Ten Predictions For The Golden Globes Award 2017 (UPDATED RESULT)

The 74th Golden Globes award takes place on Sunday 8th 2017. It is set to honour the numerous great works of film and television. From series, to musicals, to dramas to action, animation, etc.

Note that the golden globe has two or more segments. Notably, film and television segments with each segments having their own categories.

With over 20 categories on the go, here are our picks for who we think would be going home with the awards tonight.

Shall we?

10. Best Motion Picture – Animated

NOMINEES

Torn between Zootopia and Kubo and the Two Srings,  but clearly the one with more acclaim would be Zootopia.

OUR PICK

RESULT: WON

9. Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy

NOMINEES

Stuck between La La Land and Deadpool. With Dead Pool already winning many awards, we expect the Golden Globes to give it to La La Land.

OUR PICK

RESULT: WON

8. Best Motion Picture – Foreign Language

NOMINEES

Elle seemed to be the most popular and widely released with its lead actress scoring a nomination for best actress in a drama movie. So we would go for Elle.

OUR PICK

RESULT: WON

7. The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story

Leading with five nomination. We are going on a limb her considering they swept the Emmys, we might just hope they do too. But here is a fact, as the golden globes is known for consoling and distributing evenly there is a chance that they may not sweep it all. However, we hope they do.

Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television      RESULT: WON

Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television (Sarah Paulson)  RESULT: WON

Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television (Courtney B Vance)  RESULT: LOST

Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Sterling K Brown) and (John Travolta)   RESULT: LOST

6. Best Television Series – Drama

NOMINEES

This is hard. With three of them being all brand new drama series we really can’t say what the Golden Globes have in mind. Game of thrones had a big year, along with all of them, but we are going on a limb here and sticking our bet for This Is Us… you know what, we take that back. Game Of Thrones is a safer guess even though Stranger Things was our favourite and even though Westworld has a bigger chance.

OUR PICK

RESULT: LOST TO THE CROWN

5. BEST ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A MOTION PICTURE

NOMINEES

Torn between Mahershala Ali for Moonlight and Dev Patel for Lion, for the fact the golden globe gives more earls to diversity, we still have high hopes for Simon Helberg considering his performance in Florence Jerkins was praised. However Mahershala had a good year and Moonlight too so, we would be going for him. Though the Golden globes is known for distributing award so it could reach everyone, If Naomie Harris wins for best supporting for Moon light, there is a chance Mahershala won’t be taking this. Still, hes our best guess.

OUR PICK

RESULT: LOST

4.   BEST ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A MOTION PICTURE

NOMINEES

WOW!!! How do we do this? Is it already obvious? Considering Voila was not nimoinated for her dead end performance in HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER and losing it to Taraji Last year who by the way didn’t get nominated this year, I guess its time for Golden Globes to make it up to her. But the chances she might not win is the fact that the Golden Globes always go for those with no chances at the Oscars, there by consoling them, which might be good luck for NAOMIE HARRIS and Mitchelle Williams but still our bet is on VOILA DAVIS.

OUR PICK

RESULT: WON

3. Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama

NOMINEES

Torn between Andrew Garfield for Hacksaw ridge and Cassey Affleck for Manchester by Sea. We don’t see Densel Washington winning this but we hope for him to. However our best guess will be Cassey Affleck.

RESULT: WON

2. Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama

NOMINEES

Natalie Portman for Jackie and Amy Adams for Arrival. We don’t see Ruth Nega winning this. And Amy Adams have a shot for the Golden Globe love for Space movies but Natalie Portman had more praise along with Ruth Nega. Isabelle Huppert is a good contender too for her role in ELLE which is our pick for best foreign language film. But our bet will be on Natalie Portman for Jackie.

RESULT: LOST TO ISABELLE HUPPERT

1. Best Motion Picture – Drama

NOMINEES

Moonlight and Hacksaw Ridge are clearly the two big contenders here but fact remains that Moonlight is the most awarded film of the year. And the most well acclaimed movie. Unlike anything we have ever seen. Hacksaw  Ridge may win best directing for consolation prize and Moonlight for best cinematography for consolation if it didn’t win, but we are going for Moonlight on this one.

OUR PICK

RESULT: WON
