Top ten female characters from glee

Glee was indeed the series of its time. One of the best musical creation on television that quickly became fans favourite across the globe. With it’s diverse and unique characters that had everyone relating to its entire story line, its hard not t have a favorite character.

For a start let us run down the most loved female characters from glee.

For this list we are focusing on the entire Uniqueness of a character and their roles and impact of their story line. This has nothing to do with their singing capabilities and includes both main characters, recurring and of course guests.

10. Marley  Rose

 

She comes of as an underdog whose mother is the fat lunch lady. She plays pathetic and decides to find solace in the glee club just like everyone in it. She almost served as the New Rachael but was quick to be drifted out as the season came to an end.  She wasn’t the most loved nor the most hated by fans despite being the most sought after by the new guys during her time she was still a hand full of sadness, and nearly almost crying. She was however a relatable character whom you had loved at some point.

9.  Kitty Wilde

Mean! Mean! and Just mean!

Kitty is introduced as a mean popular girl who is disliked by almost everyone. Kitty manipulates and bullies Marley Rose making her believe that she has a weight problem, while pretending to be her friend.

Throughout the season, Kitty slowly becomes more open and friendly, apologizing to Marley and becoming an active member of the Glee Club. She also becomes good friends with Unique Adams throughout her time in the glee club. But soon after the glee club was disbanded, she returned to her mean ways.

 8.  Tina Cohen Chang

One very switchy character that go from 0 – 100 in a snap. She started off shy, and practically pushed people away, only to get along soonest with everyone becoming a prominent glee leading lady. She was  diva number one and also the only female character to have a long lasting relationship with her boyfriend Mike Chang. They lasted two seasons without any drama or breakup,till the fourth season where she ended things with him over distance.

 7.  Sue Sylvester

“It’s not easy to break out of your comfort zone. People will tear you down; tell you that you shouldn’t have bothered in the first place. But let me tell you something: there’s not much of a difference in a stadium full of cheering fans, and an angry crowd screaming abuse at you. They’re both just making a lot of noise; how you take it, is up to you. Convince yourself that they’re cheering for you. You do that, and someday, they will.” _Sue Sylvester

Every protagonist should have an antagonist. Sue Sylvester is the ‘boze’ of this action musically flick. And one of the most loved devils on television who wouldn’t stop at nothing to tear down the glee club and the entire art. She comes for the entire glee club, and has had one on one melt downs with all of them.

She is always,  calculating, ruthless, devious, sneaky, egotistical, pompous, sarcastic, arrogant, vindictive, sadistic, scheming, manipulative, ungrateful, immoral, sociopathic, cruel, spiteful, bitter, dishonest, greedy, treacherous, dirty, sly, brutal, diabolical, sinister, pure evil, vain, vicious, ambitious, rotten, nasty and unscrupulous.

You would need an handkerchief by your side when you are going into her office or a first aid kit.

 6.  Brittany  Susan Pierce 

If not the most loved character Brittany is sure a lovely character that had likely the most funny dialogues and captivating dance numbers.

As a Cheerio, Brittany could be expected to come across as cruel, but she is generally a kind, generous, and caring person, although exceptionally naive and innocent to the point of being considered stupid, though she is very sensitive to this word, such as when she stood up for herself after Finn called her stupid, considering it as ‘mean’ and ‘bullying.’

As the ultimate “dumb blonde,” Brittany speaks without any mental filter, often resulting in unexpected statements, such as, “I’m pretty sure my cat’s reading my diary.” She’s even been known to weave up sentences that have little to no relation or relevance to each other.

 5.  April Rhodes

“I haven’t drank in 45 minutes”_ April Rhodes

Even though she was a recurring guest star  she is forever a notable favorite character in glee. Her scenes are remarkable and timeless.April is laid-back and pays no attention to consequences, as shown with her constant squatting. She has an addictive personality and no problem being in a relationship for money. She apparently is very wild and enjoys parties, drinking and is easily entertained, although she denies and doesn’t like to talk about how she may be addicted. She is confident and talented, but also very unprofessional for a singer, who appears to have given up on her dreams and now has no ambition. She doesn’t appear to think about setting a good example, or worry about consequences, however seems to have good intentions on the whole. She is likable, fun, with a magnetic personality and a love for beverages. On the minus side, however, she lets this easily go out of control. She is extremely honest and upfront about being a washed up hasbeen which what makes her a highly fan favourite especially to the older generation.

 4.  Quinn Fabray

Quinn is first introduced as the typical mean cheerleader. She is beautiful, popular, and a complete snob. As a captain of the Cheerios, Quinn walks around with an air of superiority over the other students. Her strive for popularity stems from her family expecting her to be the perfect daughter, which often puts a lot of pressure on her. At times, Quinn is manipulative and conceited, such as using her injury to win prom queen in Prom-asaurus or tricking Finn that he is the father of her baby, despite never having sex with him, or discouraging him joining New Directions, all because she didn’t want to risk her popularity.

However, as time went on, Quinn began to appreciate the kindness and support her glee club teammates showed her, especially through her pregnancy, which she never really got from being on the Cheerios. She is also shown to be very religious, though her actions often contradicts her morals. In the beginning of the third season, she begins to display erratic behavior, such as plotting to have Beth taken away from Shelby Corcoran and wanting to make another baby with Puck, which could suggest she had postpartum depression.

 3. Rachel Berry

“Being a part of something special does not make you special. Something is special because you are a part of it.”

The most hated glee character which makes her our favourite spot on number 3.

Overbearing, hyperactive, self-involved, egotistical and shrewd, Rachel can often come off as one of the more annoying girls in the Glee Club, something all the other members have said at one point or another. First competition while still in diapers, Rachel’s one true desire is to become a famous singing star and she has spent almost every moment of her life obsessively going for that goal. She is the best singer in Glee club and has faced Kurt Hummel, Sunshine Corazon, and Mercedes Jones in diva-offs. Rachel is so energized by her ambition that she often speaks at a rapid pace, often without any tact to what she says.

 

 2. Mercedes 

“Oh hell to the no”

“I ain’t no Kelly Rowland, I’m Beyonce.”

Mercedes is a self-described “diva.” She is confident, outspoken, headstrong, and very loyal to her friends. However, despite her strong personality, she is also known to be very sensitive and strives to find someone to love and be loved. Furthermore, Mercedes is extremely supportive and sympathetic to her friends, such as when she let a pregnant Quinn live with her after she was kicked out of her house and helped Santana’s record ambition come true at the possible expense of her own. While Mercedes is a reasonably clever girl, she has been known to make dumb comments such as mistaking broccoli for a toilet brush or believing she can get HIV/AIDS from cucumbers.

Mercedes is a strong Christian and plans to wait until she married to have sex. Although her friends come from different backgrounds, she still prays for them to show support.

Whats there not love about Mercedes?

 1. Santana Lopez

Santana, like Quinn, has been primarily shown to be something of a cheerleading stereotype. Quick to pass judgment, and insult and even bully other people. She views her bitchy behavior as honesty. Santana seems to find no issue flaunting her spot on the social ladder that is High School l or to be promiscuous to remain on top.  At the beginning of series, she acts more like a sidekick to Quinn, following her orders and usually letting her do all the talking. This changes when Quinn is kicked off the Cheerios by Sue due to being pregnant, thus making Santana the head cheerleader.

Santana is also known to be manipulative and persuasive. For example, when Brittany chose Artie over her she lied to Brittany about cheating so she and Brittany could continue to intimate. Santana tries to get what she wants through scheming, always making plans that would have results in her favor, but most times it backfires. For example, In Born This Way, she made a plan to get more votes for Prom Queen that includes: Using Karofsky’s sexually to blackmail him to being her ‘Beard’ and to stop being a bully so she could get Kurt to enroll be in McKinley. However, Kurt ended up winning the crown.

Santana is likely the most interesting character in Glee.
